When It Just Can’t Wait

A leaking pipe, or a clogged drain doesn’t always occur during regular business hours. These kinds of plumbing problems may require you to fix them as soon as possible. You may not be able to wait until the next day or the next weekday to make the repair. A request for our emergency plumbing repair services will allow you to have the issue addressed right away. We can get your business back up and running quickly and efficiently.

But how do you know when to call us for an emergency plumber? There is added cost involved in calling for a plumber after regular business hours, in the middle of the night, or on the weekend. You will need to evaluate your particular circumstances to decide if it is worth the extra cost. A dripping faucet or constantly running toilet may not merit an emergency call. However, if you’ve got water rapidly leaking onto the floor or into another area, or if your entire sewer system is backing up, an emergency plumbing call may be the best money you’ve ever spent.

If its an Emergency, Shut off the Water

Even before an emergency plumbing situation occurs, it’s good to know where your main water shut-off valve is and how to shut off the flow of water. Sometimes these valves shut off water for the entire building, and sometimes there are shutoff valves for each section of a building or for each tenant. If the plumbing problem is isolated to one plumbing fixture or appliance (for example, a toilet or a water heater) sometimes there are ways to shut off the water to that individual fixuture or appliance. If you can shut off a specific supply valve associated with that fixture or appliance you can stop a leak while keeping the supply lines on for the rest of the building.

Shutting off the water in an emergency situation can help keep the problem from getting worse. If possible, find a way to shut off the water!

Then What?

After the water is shut off (in the case of a leak), the next question you’ll have to ask yourself is, “can this wait until regular business hours?” If you’ve managed to stop further leaks and the damage is not too severe, maybe it can wait. If you’ve only got a few hours to go until the regular workday, maybe it can wait. But, if your entire business has come to a screeching halt because of the plumbing issue, it’s probably time to make the call for emergency plumbing services. If your entire sewer line is clogged and it’s after regular hours, then it’s probably time to make the call for emergency plumbing services. If it’s Friday night and you’ve got the whole weekend ahead of you, then it’s probably time to make the call for emergency plumbing services.
